Checking Euskalmet…
It’s all forecast: we don’t show real-time measurements from the beach. Follow the flags and the lifeguards. No forecast guarantees it is safe to go in.

Open AEMET (new tab)How to read the camera and the forecast
Start with the forecast: the swell tells you whether there will be waves, and the wind sea whether the water will be messy. Light wind (1–3 Bft) usually leaves a cleaner sea than strong wind.
Then watch the camera for a few minutes. Notice how long the sets take to arrive, where the waves break, whether there’s white water everywhere and how many people are in the water. The tide changes how waves break on any beach, so what you see at nine may look different at noon.
On a small day, and if you’re starting out, a wide board with plenty of volume (foam or softboard) floats more and forgives more. On medium days, with some experience, a shorter board turns better but asks more of you. If in doubt, choose more volume.
If the sea looks right, your board is two minutes away.

Where can I watch the Zurriola webcam live?
Right here: at the top of this page there are two public cameras of the beach, the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council’s and the “Gros” camera. Press “Watch the cameras”; nothing loads until you do.
What are the waves like at Zurriola today?
At the top you have today’s Euskalmet forecast for the Basque coast: swell, wind, wind sea and water temperature, with the bulletin time. It is a forecast, not a measurement at the beach, so check it alongside the camera.
What is swell and what is wind sea?
Swell is the energy that travels from far away, and it’s what you surf: its height and direction tell you whether there will be waves. Wind sea is the chop raised by the local wind; when it grows, the water gets messy.
Where can I check the tides?
On Euskalmet: the “Tides on Euskalmet” link on this page opens its sea information. The tide changes how the waves break, so it’s worth checking before you go.
Are there lifeguards at Zurriola?
Yes, during the bathing season. In the 2026 season (1 June to 30 September), from 10:00 to 20:00 between 15 June and 15 September, and from 10:30 to 19:30 for the rest of the season. Always follow the flags.
